A European Champion at two, and a World Highweight at three, Lady Aurelia consistently displayed blistering speed. Undoubtedly "the Flying Filly" of the 21st century, she harkens back her predecessor, Mumtaz Mahal, "the Flying Filly" of the 20th century, not only with her Queen Mary Stakes triumph, but also a victory over older males in a major sprint stakes at three. Queen Mary Stakes heroines have frequently gone on to become broodmares of considerable significance, and none more so than Mumtaz Mahal. Arguably the most influential producer of the 20th century, she is an ancestress of countless major stakes winners, among them the breed-shaping stallions Nasrullah, Royal Charger and Mahmoud. Lady Aurelia, who has at least 20 crosses of Mumtaz Mahal in her pedigree, must have a great chance of extending her parallels with that legendary mare into her stud career.

Lady Aurelia is among the finest offspring of Scat Daddy, a stallion who was already on his way to become an international sire phenomenon at the time of his premature death at age 11, in December 2015. A grade one winner at two and three, Scat Daddy was the Leading Freshman Sire of his crop and has now been represented by more than 100 stakes winners, 67 of them group or graded, 25 group and grade one. He has been represented by Champions on three continents, and group or grade one winners in five different countries. In addition to Lady Aurelia, he is represented by the magnificent Justify, the only horse ever to win the U.S. Triple Crown and retire undefeated; No Nay Never, a champion in Europe and now a sensational first year stallion there; as well as such as Dacita, Lady of Shamrock, Celestine, Harmonize, Caravaggio, Daddy’s Lil Darling, Sioux Nation and Mendelssohn.

D’Wildcat Speed, the dam of Lady Aurelia, is a winner of nine black-type events, including the Pocahontas Stakes and the Rampart Handicap (gr. II). Dam of stakes placed Titletown Five, D’Wildcat Speed has a yearling filly by Munnings, and is in foal to Medaglia d’Oro. She also has young daughters of Distorted Humor, Birdstone and Congrats to produce for the family.
